The Scrum concepts behind the game

What does Run the Sprint help you practice?

This is not a full Scrum simulation. It is a short, single-player puzzle that makes Sprint Goal focus and the difference between completing work and delivering value visible. It offers a no-login practice for Scrum learners, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Agile team members.

Sprint Goal focus
Choose every move around getting the Value Item to the shared goal, not merely clearing the board.
Value over activity
Completing more work is not success by itself; delivered Value Items determine the outcome.
Inspect and adapt
Re-read the board when the path changes, update your focus, and preserve Flow.

What is Run the Sprint?

Run the Sprint is a free web game that combines an agile product delivery theme with match-3 puzzle mechanics. Your goal is to match work and deliver as many Value Items as possible during the 60-second timebox. A new Value Item drops from the top after every delivery.

What do match 4, match 5, and Flow do?

Matching four identical tiles creates Team Focus, which clears a row or column. Matching five creates a PO Decision, which removes every tile of the selected work type. Automatic matches after tiles fall build a Flow chain and increase the score multiplier.

Frequently asked questions

Is Run the Sprint free, and do I need an account?

The game is free and does not require an account. Without an account, your score is kept under a random name. Create an account to publish scores from the same browser under your profile name.

How do I win the game?

Swap neighboring tiles to create matches of three or more. Clear the work below the Value Item and move the package icon to the Sprint Goal. Each Sprint has a delivery commitment; meet it within 60 seconds to complete the Sprint, then deliver more to earn extra stars.

How are the score and leaderboard calculated?

Delivery count, Value Item progress, cleared tiles, special powers, and Flow affect your score. There is no remaining-time bonus; every game lasts 60 seconds. Your all-time Run Score is the sum of your best verified score in each Sprint.

What are Team Focus, PO Decision, and Daily?

A match of four creates Team Focus, and a match of five creates a PO Decision. Daily reshuffles the board when you are stuck and reveals a playable move.

Is Run the Sprint a Scrum simulation?

No. Run the Sprint does not simulate every Scrum role and event. It uses a short puzzle metaphor to practice Sprint Goal focus, value delivery, timeboxing, focus, and adaptation.

Who is Run the Sprint for?

It is designed for people learning Scrum, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Agile team members, and professionals who want a short warm-up before training. The game is single-player and requires no login.
